MACARONIC TEMPLE
Perigordian Masonic lodge with oriental architecture, distinguished by the symbolic tools sculpted on its façade.
The Périgueux Masonic Lodge is remarkable for the symbolic tools sculpted on its façade. Removed by the Vichy regime in 1940, they were not reinstalled until 1987. In addition to triangles, squares, compasses, swords, balances, rosettes and more, the orientalist style of the moucharabieh-style openings and the five-pointed star-shaped clerestories is a real eye-catcher. Among his brothers were the writer Eugène Le Roy and Antoine de Tounens, the famous King of Araucania. The site is open to visitors during the Heritage Days!
