JARDIN DE THOUIN
Small garden in place of the abbey's keep, prison and refectory. Adjacent to the cathedral. Panoramic view.
Of modest proportions, overlooking the Place Mauvard (parking lot), this small public garden is a delightful place to relax, in place of the keep, prison and refectory of Saint-Front Abbey, sold to the Visitandines in 1837. It houses two bronze cannons, including a couleuvrine, as well as six iron cannonballs, 16th-century artefacts owned by the City of Périgueux. The 17th-century half-moon fountain on the south wall of the cloister is the perfect place to enjoy the shade and panoramic views from the benches.
