In this cave, you will contemplate a great density of animal representations, left by the man 17 000 years ago.

Among the 250 animal figures engraved or drawn in black, the mammoth is the dominant theme, depicted 170 times, along with bison, horses, ibex and rhinoceros. This choice by Magdalenian artists, 17,000 years ago, is all the more surprising given the rarity of mammoth bones in the South-West, which adds to the mystery of the cave's ornamentation. This is why the site is sometimes nicknamed "the cave of a hundred mammoths". In fact, 30% of all the mammoth images in Europe's 350 decorated caves are to be found here!
