BELVES WOOLEN MILL
Spinning mill located in an old mill of the century fitted out to discover the process of transformation of the wool to the thread.
Located in an old mill from the 15th century, the Belvès Spinning Mill stopped working in the 1990s. In order to save this industrial heritage, the Community of Communes between Nauze and Bessède acquired it and entrusted its management to the association Au fil du Temps. You can visit this interpretation center and discover the process of transformation of the wool to the thread. An interactive and participative scenography allows everyone, whatever their age, to follow the transformation process and to understand the importance of this material in the life of our ancestors. The visit can be extended by the store where local felts, wools and clothes are proposed, but also toys and books. Outside, the old mill's reach has been redesigned as a water garden to encourage walking in a privileged natural environment where dragonflies, butterflies and batrachians reign. During the school vacations, educational workshops are offered and, the rest of the year, knitting, weaving, sewing and other workshops are a must. The Filature de Belvès has become a friendly place to meet, create, learn and exchange. Tours for groups including the Filature, the gardens of Limeuil and the mill of La Rouzique are proposed. Also to be discovered: the vintageescape game, suitable for the whole family, in the backstage area of the Filature!
