GARDENS OF HAUTE TERRE, NATURAL PARK L'HERMITAGE
Patrimoine du Vivant, the garden of the senses and silence dominates the Dordogne Valley in Saint-André-d'Allas and is a must-see!
This living heritage is located on a promontory almost 300 metres high. In addition to being a rich and fragile biotope, this unusual site has revealed a prehistoric occupation, a tourist privilege of the Périgord. This garden of the four seasons extends over 4 hectares and dominates the Dordogne Valley with its colorful flowers. It's a garden of the senses and silence, full of wild fragrances, created by its designer, Claude-Marie Villeneuve Dellac, and her husband, Serge-Yvon, over more than 20 years. For them, it's also the story of a life, a family and several generations. Let's take a look at the seasons: spring, with all its greens, explodes with the birth of flowers and grasses; summer spreads out with beautiful variations in lighting and starry nights; autumn welcomes a legion of mushrooms and unfurls its illuminated colors; and finally, winter lulls everything to sleep in a frosty, enchanting mantle. Plants from Here and Elsewhere is an excellent pretext for getting to grips with ethnobotany and its social role. You'll find all the information you need to get there on the Internet. Between sunny alleys and shady paths in the undergrowth, this peaceful place takes just 2 hours to discover, and is open to the public by appointment only. But if you have the chance to chat with Claude-Marie, a passionate gardener, you won't forget your visit. Open for Rendez-vous au Jardin in June and Heritage Days in September.
