Le Donjon & Manoir de la Salle is a historic site located in Saint-Léon-sur-Vézère, one of France's most beautiful villages. Nestled in a green setting in the heart of Périgord Noir, this remarkable architectural ensemble consists of a 12ᵉ century master tower and a small 15ᵉ century manor house. As you enter the site, you'll immediately be impressed by the imposing allure of this veritable fortified keep. Inside, you'll see an elegant master bedroom as well as a courtroom. With its machicolations, battlements and archways, this master tower perfectly illustrates medieval military art in all its splendor. In the manor house, you'll also find a kitchen, a large reception room, a living room and an attic housing an exhibition on medieval fantasy animals. You'll also discover a herbalist's shop housing a rich collection of wild, medicinal and aromatic plants. These buildings are equipped with period furniture and unusual objects. What's more, the estate boasts a romantic garden adorned with flowerbeds and century-old trees, including a giant, multi-century cedar. It offers an oasis of tranquillity, perfect for a stroll or a restful break. Various events and activities (guided tour by a qualified herbalist, meeting with a travelling magician...) are also organized at this address to enrich the visiting experience. During the summer months, you can also opt for a nocturnal visit with live entertainment.
