L’ENVIE DES METS
Restaurant with terrace serving local short circuit products, meat, fish and vegetarian options.
Laetitia Mathiez (who left a legal career to train as a chef with Hélène Darroze and at the Tour d'Argent) and Grégoire Perriet (who has worked for gastronomes) form a duo of passionate chefs. They left the Paris region and took over the restaurant in November 2017 after falling in love with the Périgord. Their slate cuisine is set in an old stone setting with a fireplace in winter and a green terrace on the banks of the Mandalou in fine weather. The menu, original and creative, varies according to the chefs' inspiration, Grégoire's West Indian origins offering some beautiful travels: tuna bonito, rutabaga, purple malaga, passion fruit vinaigrette. For dessert, an ice-cream with Limousin fromage blanc with a meringue and a biscuit with dates, candied dates and grilled buckwheat seeds and vanilla sugar. Local short circuits are preferred (lamb, pork, eggs, vegetables), French meats and fish from sustainable fishing, and there is always a vegetarian option. It's excellent, everything is homemade, and the welcome is as good as the food. Homemade products are on sale on site: terrines, chutneys, condiments.
