NATURAL SITE OF THE VENDOIRE PEAT BOGS
A superb site and a great favorite of the team. Day or night, it is a mysterious, natural and poetic enchantment.
The Tourbières de Vendoire site is a veritable island of nature in the middle of cultivated land. Its wild aspect, the diversity of its habitats and its great entomological wealth make it an original place of great heritage interest. An ideal place to recharge your batteries, the Natura 2000 site is an original and little-known wetland in the Lizonne valley. It is a classic peat bog with a singular and diverse flora and fauna. From May1 to September 30, the Maison des Tourbières lets visitors discover the natural history of the site, as well as that linked to human activities. The peat bog site itself is open to visitors all year round. Thanks to a series of educational panels, you can discover at your own pace the fauna and flora specific to the site, and the use of peat. The Maison des Tourbières also offers guided tours of around 2 hours (booking required) on themes relating to the peat bog environment. In addition, every Friday during the summer, a variety of activities await you during the day or evening: wild plant cooking workshops, sensory discovery workshops, festive evenings with concerts and meals in the heart of nature, storytelling evenings, donkey rides... There's something for everyone, young and old, in a rare, preserved and fragile environment. The full program can be found on the website and on social networks.
