SMALL PIQUEY
Petit-Piquey, a small dune in gascon occitan, is one of the villages on the peninsula. It is surrounded by a long sandy beach, side side. The villas form an elegant seafront with gardens that plunge into the sand. In the south, the Pointe aux Cheval Subdivision is built largely on the side of the high wooded dunes, the village offers magnificent panoramas on the surrounding coast, on the oyster village and on Île aux Oiseaux. This point is located between the Petit-Piquey and Grand Piquey districts and once formed the starting point for horse or cow herds that went to swim on Île aux Oiseaux to graze salted herbs. Hunted to be sold, this horse race that was said robust and perfectly adapted to work in sandy environments disappeared completely from the Cape Ferret peninsula. Petit-Piquey is home to the Grand Corner impasse, a place accessible from the D 106, on foot only, to admire the coast, the basin, the Bird Island and the ocean with loss of sight…
