Roland Feuillas is more than just a baker. Going up to Cucugnan and tasting his bread is a path that transforms you, and not just for your taste buds. Here, the emphasis is on ethics and quality, with the aim of offering "healthy" flours and breads. Our wheat is grown organically, we work exclusively with ancient seed varieties, and everything is stone-ground. A perfect blend of tradition, health and taste. The bread can be kept for a week.

The weather was terrible. Rain squalls, strong winds and a temperature of 10 C. Parking in the lot below town, I donned my rain coat and rapidly walked the 400 meters to the bakery. What a delightful experience! As a baker myself (I bake all my bread at home), I had wonderful 1/2 hour conversation with the proprietor (I am reasonably fluent in French). One of those experiences that underscores the benefits of travel.

I bought a loaf of rouge de Bourdeaux, kamut pasta, some cookies, and the first book written about the proprietor. There is no indoor seating, so on a day like this, I enjoyed my coffee standing up. Definitely worth the trip!
