The "castel daou rey", otherwise known as the "King's Tower", is the only intact keep in Gironde. This superb 32-metre-high edifice is a must-see in Saint-Emilion. Would you like to take on this witness to the past? You'll have to climb the 118 steps, but the panoramic view over the town is superb. Built in the 13th century, the keep was used as a defensive citadel until the end of the 16th century. It is used to proclaim the Judgement of New Wine and the Ban des Vendanges.

Intéressant à visiter, mais attention aux glissades sur les pierres, les enfants ont bien apprécié la vue après l'effort de la montée

Petite montée avec des marches très abîmées mais d'époque et en haut une vue splendide sur le village de st Emilion, à faire au moment de la Jurade voir tous ces hommes en haut en rouge et blanc c'est superbe !!
