MAISON DILLON

In 1779, the colonel and county Arthur Dillon landed on the island of Martinique, it command by colonel one of the three regiments "Irish" of the King of France. The coming of the regiment in the West Indies is controlled by the participation of France in the war of independence of young States of America. The County Dillon is hosted at the beautiful Marie Francoise Laure Girardin of Montgeralde.

1784, The American war of independence is complete ; Dillon is promoted general and made governor of Tobago. It returns in Martinique or he married Marie Francoise Laure. The "Planting of Girardin "becomes" the Dillon". Five years later, the new owner is elected member to the States general. It takes the side of the revolution, but finished his career in 1794, on the scaffold.
Marie Francoise Laure then leaves the Martinique, the property is declining as, of the rest, all the plantations of the West Indies.

1857, Pierre Herve acquirer of the Dillon, he built a sugar refinery and restores the channel of arrival of waters. A serious crisis has befallen on cane sugar replaced more and more by the beet sugar. Herve, ruin, is forced to sell his property.

In 1867, the distillery is purchased by the Duchamp of Chastaigne Louis Domergue. On an inventory of this time one reads it" includes "331 hectares, 36 Indians, 39 Chinese, 16 African, 56 oxen, 5 mules Americans and 290 mules creole ...

1891, A double disaster occurs. A cyclone devastated Fort de France, the property is destroyed and Louis Domergue dies. His son Raoul resumed the case.

In 1900, he rebuilt a "housing" from a house purchased in the vicinity of Saint-Pierre .

In 1920, a column to distillation is switched on, it still works today.

In 1928, the new boss, Raphael Domergue, built the present mill of the Dillon in a modern material able to withstand cyclones
