A huge castle "built in one piece", once surrounded by a moat fed by the Isle, which then flows towards Périgueux.
Built by the Saint-Astier family in the 15th-16th centuries, Château des Bories follows the same layout as L'Herm or Lanquais. Listed as a historic monument, it is surrounded by a moat once fed by the Isle river. The 3-storey main building has around 20 rooms, flanked by two round towers and a square tower at the rear. The tour takes in the monumental staircase and the palm-vaulted kitchen with its spit, cellars, guard room and two terraces overlooking the river. You can also stroll through the idyllic grounds.
