Day 1: Sofia, visit of the city center

Day 2: Rila Monastery

The Rila Monastery is 125 km from Sofia. At 1,147 meters above sea level, it is located in the highest mountain range of the peninsula. It is the main attraction of the country, its visit should not be forgotten under any circumstances. Next to it, you can visit the pyramids of Stob or hike in the mountain. Night at the monastery or return to Sofia in the evening.

Day 3: Plovdiv and Batchkovo Monastery

Steps: Bachkovo, Koprivshtitsa, Plovdiv

It is undoubtedly the most beautiful old town in Bulgaria, founded by Philip II of Macedonia and rich in so many influences. Visit the old town, architectural reserve, the Roman amphitheater and the city center. The monastery of Batchkovo is a Unesco World Heritage Site. An alternative solution is to spend a weekend in Plovdiv without stopping in Sofia. If you are by car, you can choose to pass by the village-museum of Koprivshtitsa on the way.
