How to get there

Downtown, in the heart of the city

Vue sur Vancouver et le dôme du musée Science World.

Steps: Vancouver

Head to Waterfront station, the Skytrain's lines terminus (metro) in the city centre. From there, you can reach the tourism nerve centre in Vancouver with the Canada Place Convention Centre, the departure of city bus tours, the walkway along the marina and the historic neighbourhood of Gastown. Those who do not have time to visit Stanley Park on foot can take the bicycle path of Seawall along the waterfront by bike or on skate. You can picnic in the park at the foot of the aboriginal totems before heading to Vancouver Lookout, a panoramic tower with a stunning view of the buildings of the city centre, the surrounding mountains and the Pacific Ocean. In case of a rainy day, take a shelter at the Art Gallery or the Bill Reid Gallery, two art museums that highlight Amerindian culture and crafts. A dinner in a pub or a restaurant in the trendy Yaletown district will beautifully end your day! For an unusual evening and unexpected encounters, take a look at the Cambie Bar.

Wonderful view of the city centre and the mountains in the background. On foot or by bike, the Seaside bike path leads to the popular Kitsilano beach and its seawater swimming pool. It may be interesting to take the 99 bus on Broadway to the campus of the University of British Columbia and its famous Museum of Anthropology, a must for aboriginal art lovers. Day 3

North Vancouver, an opening into the mountains

Vancouver.

After the Skytrain, the bus and the bike, do not miss a trip aboard Seabus, a shuttle that transports passengers from the downtown area (Waterfront) to the North Vancouver landing, beyond Burrard Inlet. Once on land, you can take public transportation to go to the Grouse Mountain resort and attend a lumberjack show, the Capilano Suspension Bridge that allows you to walk to the summit of the canopy or Lynn Canyon Park for a walk along a river with emerald-colour waters. Those who want to try a sea kayak tour can take the car to Deep Cove, the favourite place of the Vancouver's residents for water activities.

A city world

Les totems du Stanley Park.

Steps: Vancouver

Total immersion in Vancouver's Chinatown. You can begin with a mandatory stop at the New Town Bakery on Pender Street, where you can stock up on steam buns (steamed stuffed breads) and other Chinese pastries. Then you can walk from shop to shop - teashops, vegetables and spices with wacky perfumes - to Dr. Sun Yat-Sen's garden where you can rest while admiring the blossoming trees. Do not hesitate to lunch late, in the middle of the afternoon, to fully live the experience. Two options are available: the most authentic, by going to E Georgia Street 230 (the name of the restaurant only appears in Chinese) where you can compose your punnet containing fish or meat, vegetables and more or less spicy rice. Otherwise, in a more aesthetic setting, you can discover the cuisine of the Phnom Penh restaurant located at about ten numbers of the first, we do not know what we order but do not fear and go with your eyes closed! Then you can visit the trendy galleries like Centre-A or UNIT/PITT Project. If you want to end this day with a Chinese night market, you can go to Richmond (south of Vancouver) for the Panda Night Market which is reallly worth visiting.

Trendy shopping and sought-after flavours

Architecture de Vancouver.

Steps: Vancouver

A trendier day, alongside Commercial Drive. Shops, thrift shops, cafés ... there is something to do and see on this very busy street. Mandatory stop at Liberty Wine, one of the few Vancouver cellars that offers a very sharp choice of wine. You can get plenty of hummus and aubergine caviar at Jack's house, in 1824 of the street. Then you can enjoy an americano in a beautiful blue cup at Prado. For lunch, you can go past the residential area to Pleasant Mount, and you can take a table in Limon Y Sal to taste their fantastic burritos (note, long queue at any time of day) then join the lively Main Street and its little sister Fraser Street. Second hand, bookshop and gallery are to be discovered, and in the evening, these streets abound in bars and restaurants that are diverse and varied. A wink at the Black Lodge.

A bare buns experience...

Steps: Vancouver

Ready for a Bare Buns day? You can prepare a good picnic based on tofu sandwiches, kale salad, Kombucha beer, then head for Wreck Beach, Vancouver's most off-centered beach west of the UBC campus, also the wildest, the most nudist. You will leave your clothes to fully sunbathe until sunset. After this healthy day, the evening is allowed to be filled with a beautiful poutine, a traditional Canadian dish based on French fries and cheddar cheese covered with brown sauce.
