Paraty is a town of fishermen and seafood. This charming restaurant at the very tip of the historical centre of Paraty is really a good place to taste seafood specialities such as fish moquecas and grilled fish with banana. The lobsters are generous and well grilled. The welcome of the owner and his wife (who also have a small family pousada upstairs) is very warm, and the atmosphere of the restaurant is romantic. An address that changes from the busy restaurants on the main streets of Paraty.

Pingado is a cosy little café in one of the central streets of Paraty's old town. The decor is both simple and sophisticated, with terracotta tilesblending harmoniously with the wood decor of this stall. The Pingado café offers excellent local coffees, including a highly original one with cachaça, whipped cream and ginger jelly. While the coffee menu highlights the richness of this region of Brazil, the sandwich menu is equally interesting.

La casa coupê is located right in the historic center. Whether you're looking for a snack on an active day of sightseeing in the beautiful city of Paraty, a more substantial meal in the evening or a drink, the charm is there every time. A few tables outside, others inside, for a pleasant moment. There's an affordable menu of pizzas and burgers, and dishes that are a little more expensive but, for a street-side address, remain fairly priced. Popular Brazilian live music on a regular basis. Good cocktails.

Chef Luciana has set the bar high in her establishment on Route de Cunha. In a setting that is at once simple, familial and romantic, the heart that Luciana puts into her cooking can be felt from the moment you enter the aptly named "Bistrô Alquimia dos Sabores". Everything is done to make your time in the restaurant as pleasant as possible. The filet mignon with strawberry jam, the shrimps flambéed with black rice, the tasty desserts, everything is tasty. Worth knowing.

With its cobblestones on its front, reminiscent of the orla of Rio de Janeiro, and its brick walls, the torre da pizza has a convivial and traditional side that is not contradicted by the presentation of its menu. This pizzeria is a good option for small budgets in the centre, as it has reasonable prices and the pizzas are prepared with love (but it takes time): fine dough, homemade tomato sauce, and the menu offers other dishes that are not too expensive. There are a few tables in the pleasant street for lunch or dinner outside.

Sophisticated setting, white tablecloths and jazzy musical background, this restaurant is definitely one of the best in Paraty, the atmosphere is very romantic and sophisticated. The restaurant is specialized in typical regional caiçara cuisine. And it is undeniably worth the trip! We will appreciate the octopus or the fish marinated with mango, its purple onions and its coconut sauce. The meat is not in rest. For dessert, the cooked banana with its scoop of ice cream of doce de leite and crushed peanuts is a must. The plate is delicious and the note is salty.

For many years Sabor da Terra has been offering its cuisine to locals and tourists who do not want to spend too much without sacrificing the quality of the contents of the plate. In this restaurant by the kilo at the entrance to the old town, you will find a buffet that may lack variety, but is certainly of high quality at a very affordable price compared to those in the centre. Good minute grilled meats, ready meals, vegetables, pasta, rice... a good Brazilian cuisine without pretension. More and more guests are going there!

Punto di vino has established itself as a leading name in Italian cuisine. Very good Italian cuisine with Brazilian flavours. Pippo, the Italian owner, always manages to find you a small seat (prefer the garden, which is cooler), even when the restaurant seems full (which happens very often). Try the carpaccio triplo con rucola, a delight of local produce. Excellent pizzas, a little expensive but prepared with good ingredients, Italian style (priceless). In the evenings, there are regular ao vivo concerts, especially at weekends, to set the mood.

An emblematic Paraty establishment, the Margarida Café is undoubtedly one of the finest restaurants in this small colonial town. For decades, we've been eating and drinking in a beautiful, large room with exposed stonework, wood, sofas, period furniture and a small winter garden... always with the same pleasure! Live music every evening. Brazilian and international dishes (moquecas, paellas, pizzas...), some original dishes (crispy shrimps, fish à la mode of the chef...), excellent wines. Touristy but pleasant. Slightly salty note.

On the quays, a beautiful address, with several tables outside with a view of the schooners and the bay. Seafood and fish specialties selected by chef Maria Isabel do Amaral directly from local fishermen. 20 years of know-how for a gastronomic restaurant that combines Brazilian tradition with a Mediterranean touch. Also good meat dishes and homemade pasta (especially the excellent pastas ao vongole). You can also come here to have a drink, enjoy thehappy hour and the quietness of the place.

Right in the historic center, this new restaurant in Paraty offers a rather original menu (typical dishes enhanced by lesser-known flavors), including seafood specialties. There's also a good cocktail menu, perfect for an aperitif. The street-side terrace tables give the place a convivial feel. The decor is pleasant, with white canvases interwoven with wooden beams on the ceiling. The atmosphere is both chic and simple. The waiters are professional, and the live music on weekend evenings is pleasant.

It's not easy to find good, inexpensive restaurants in Paraty. The Borogodo has chosen to focus on simplicity and good taste, and this works rather well in a very simple setting, with small wooden seats, straw and wicker on the walls. It's a good place for a cheap, quality lunch or dinner: typical dishes, generous homemade burgers, smoothies, açai... Excellent cocktails are prepared here(caipirinha maracuja-cinnamon or "Jorge Amado"). A pleasant place to have a drink and relax with friends. Good value for money.

Bartholomeu has become one of the best restaurants in Paraty. For the meat of course, but not only. It must be said that the chef, Don Julio, is an Argentinean who has been living in Brazil for a long time. So he knows about meat. But his menu goes far beyond the "picanha". He offers a delicious modern international cuisine, inspired by Argentine recipes. Try the picanha with Roquefort cheese, it's a success. Excellent wine list (Argentinean, of course!). The plate reflects the decoration: sophisticated and refined.

The small door and the long corridor of the entrance do not suggest such a space... When you enter the establishment, it is an explosion of colors. The place is decorated with care and you can sit in the room or on the patio. In this decor with hippie accents and a Zen atmosphere, we find on the menu perfectly executed Thai specialties, with delicate flavors, carefully presented in banana leaves. Pad Thai, of course, but also shrimp curry and vegetarian dishes. The service is very pleasant.

The owner, Yves, a French in love with Paraty, cuisine our good olds pancakes: mozzarella and tomato of Provence, tuna and olive or chocolate. One regales oneself at handsome price.
