Between the sea and the green hills, Nice - the5th largest city in France - has about 10 km of coastline, including 7.5 km of beach, enough to attract summer visitors! The hills of the county form a rigorous barrier against the cold of winter while the fresh air of the coast tempers the heat during the summer. But the attraction of Nice is not only due to the climate: it is also due to the dynamism of a city that ranks among the top of the national activity. The Nice-Côte d'Azur airport welcomes more than 10 million passengers per year: it is the first national airport after Paris! The port is the leading French cruise ship port with nearly 300,000 passengers. But Nice is also the old town of Nice and its picturesque market, the Cours Saleya, which smells of Provence and is a must-see. It is also a dozen museums to visit including the famous Matisse Museum or the fascinating Marc Chagall Museum. It is therefore hardly surprising that millions of foreign tourists attracted by the assets of this city, detailed in the Nice guide, come to stroll on the Promenade des Anglais in summer and even more and more during the rest of the year. Follow your Nice guide to discover this pleasant destination.

What to visit Nice?

When to go to Nice?

The best time to go and visit Nice is in spring or autumn, during the low season. The prices of hotels and restaurants are much lower than in summer at this period and the beaches are almost deserted. As for the climate, it is ideal, warm but not too hot, and you can often swim from spring and sometimes until the end of November in autumn. Winter is the very low tourist season but the climate remains mild with the possibility of doing many hikes under the sun. The high tourist season is of course the summer, in July and August, the roads are crowded and the prices can easily triple. It is then really necessary to book your stay early if you want to have a place and not to leave all your savings there. Nice is indeed one of the most touristic cities in France and it is not only popular with the French but also with a large number of foreign tourists. If you go to Nice in the summer, it is a good time for outdoor festivals and you can easily find an exhaustive list of these festivals at the tourist office.
