Practical information : Sightseeing Tel Aviv

Timetable

Opening hours in Israel are quite similar to those in France (between 9am and 7pm). Note however that sites and museums generally close earlier on Fridays (around 2pm-3pm) and are sometimes completely closed on Saturdays for Shabbat.

To be booked

No need to book in advance for the city's museums, there is rarely a queue. Reservations are recommended for shows, however.

Budget & Tips

If you do tours in the summer, take the morning session instead to avoid too much heat. The "Open House" is an opportunity, during a weekend, to visit free of charge houses, hotels and public buildings that open their doors for the occasion and thus some of the jewels of the city's architectural heritage.

Main events

Tel Aviv hosts many festivals and events throughout the year, from the grandiose and oversized Gay Pride (usually in June) to sporting events that attract thousands of people, such as the marathon (February). There are also cultural events such as the "Nuit Blanche" or film festivals at the cinematheque. National and religious holidays are also conducive to festivals such as Independence Day and the Carnival of Purim for example.

At the tourist office located on the seaside promenade or at the Jaffa tourist office (visit.tel-aviv.gov.il) you will find documentation on different types of guided tours and activities. There is a plethora of things to see in Tel Aviv and a thousand ways to discover them!
