Travel Guide Rotterdam
Largely destroyed during the Second World War, the second largest city in the Netherlands had to be inventive to reinvent itself, and from this point of view, Rotterdam and its more than 600,000 inhabitants are not lacking in genius. Capital of South Holland, commercial flagship of the Netherlands thanks to its immense and very modern port area, it is a contemporary city dominated by one of the most innovative urban planning, in perfect harmony with the aquatic element here everywhere present. We think of the Dubai houses, the very futuristic Erasmus Bridge, the avant-garde horizontal city of De Rotterdam but also the colourful dome of the Markthal, a true symbol of the city (although controversial) since its inauguration in 2014. Rotterdam's urban landscape, reflecting its cultural scene, is in constant evolution. It must be said that there is a young and very dynamic population: trends are created, fashions are emerging, so that in the city's corridors you will find original addresses, both in terms of restaurants, bars, clubs and alternative spaces dedicated to culture. The Rotterdam tourist guide invites you to get to know this intriguing, cosmopolitan, inventive and authentic destination. Welkom in Rotterdam!

In winter, the days are shorter and the temperatures lower, but the city is not without its charm. When to go to Rotterdam? How to go to Rotterdam? Our advice & tips
Rotterdam is a city with great potential for tourism, and although a few tourism specialists have stepped into the breach, there are not many of them either. Nevertheless, there are some interesting offers combining flight and accommodation, and why not organize thematic tours together with these agencies.
Average price of a return flight from France, with a stopover in Amsterdam or London: between 150 and 250 €. Please note that the price variation depends on the airline used and the reservation period. You can also opt for the train (prices are similar to those of the plane) which allows you to reach Rotterdam in a few hours or even a personal vehicle. For accommodation, anticipation is the key!
Rotterdam is a modern metropolis with all the means of transport to get around the city: metro (5 lines), tramway, bus, cab and, as a city of water, river shuttles. You can also get around very well on foot, but, as in Amsterdam and the rest of the Netherlands, the bicycle is the king of transportation here! Bike paths are everywhere, and the terrain is flat. So don't skimp on the bike rides!
